Window Organizer is built to collect as little as possible. This page explains exactly what is collected, by whom, and why.
The app
The app does not collect analytics, usage data, crash reports, or telemetry, and it has no accounts. Your layouts, settings and the history it uses to suggest layouts are stored only on your Mac and are never uploaded or synced.
The app connects to the internet for two reasons.
To check for updates. It downloads a small file from windoworganizer.com. This sends no information about you or your Mac beyond what any web request inherently carries, such as your IP address.
To activate and check your licence — once when you activate it, then about once every 30 days. Each check sends your licence key (which contains your email address and order number), the name you’ve given your Mac (so we can tell you which Mac holds your licence if you try to use it on another), and an anonymous identifier for the Mac. That identifier is a one-way scrambled version of the Mac’s hardware ID: it lets us recognise the same Mac again, but it can’t be turned back into the hardware ID or matched with anything outside Window Organizer. We keep this for as long as your licence is active on that Mac; deactivating the Mac deletes its record.
The app asks macOS for Accessibility permission, which is what allows it to move and resize windows. It uses that permission only for that purpose. It does not read, record, or transmit the contents of your windows or anything you type.
Buying the app
Payments are handled by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. Paddle collects the details needed to process your payment and calculate tax, under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your card details.
From Paddle we receive your email address, your country, and the details of your order. We use these only to issue and deliver your licence key, to help you if you contact support, and to process refunds. Your email address is embedded in your licence key so the app can show who it is licensed to.
Service providers
- Paddle — payment processing, tax, and invoicing.
- Cloudflare — hosts this website, the update file, and the licence service, including the record of which Mac each licence is activated on. It may process IP addresses in short-lived logs for security and reliability.
- Resend — sends the email containing your licence key.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone else. This website uses no cookies of its own and no analytics or tracking scripts. Paddle’s checkout may set cookies needed to process your payment.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. Records of a purchase that Paddle is required to keep for tax purposes are held by Paddle.
